I bleed for color!

On the weekends when I am not working on my interior design jobs, I like to whip out my watercolor set and paint all sorts of patterns. I am not the artist that my mother is so I do not venture into painting people, places, or specific things, but I love to try new techniques to make my patterns unique.

This weekend my creations were inspired by the gorgeous wallpapers of Porter Teleo. I love how Kelly Porter's brush strokes are so organic yet graphic at the same time. Here are some of my favorites of her work:

"Silk Scarf"

"Fluidity"

"Tangled"

"Ink Blot"

Another cool wallpaper source is Black Crow Studios. Their wallpapers have a similar "bleeding of colors" affect that I am just loving! (I think some of these are computerized renderings, but I think they would look great in an actual space)

I haven't taken pictures of my patterns yet (as I am in need of a new professional grade camera in order to take great close ups), but here are some great examples of hand painted textiles by Leanne Shapton

HUM.... This entire post has now reminded me of a post I made a while back called "Support NASA" which featured really cool images of the Earth taken from NASA satellites.

...What do you know, I even suggested the image below would make a cool wallpaper or textile...
Well, was I right or what?

Maggie the milliner

Well not really, but it is on my list of professions I would like to persue in my lifetime, along with being a textile designer, event planner, and florist. Or should I say, it is one of the "hats I'd like to wear one day."

So until I take on the art of designing and making hats, I will just have to stick to collecting them instead.

I have been browsing for a new hat(s) for Fall. Here are some of my favorites...

Mood Board Monday: Chartreuse

I'm currently using chartreuse in a color scheme for a client's home and I am just loving the vibrant color these days. This weekend, I even painted my nails chartreuse. I have to admit, the nails was a bit much, but it was a fun change for the weekend.

Below is my mood board (via my pinterest account) for my new blog series: "Mood Board Mondays".

Enjoy!

Fall = SEC football chaos

Goooooooo DAWGS! Sic-em!

Sure I'm proud to be a Georgia Bulldog, but let's be honest people, I was a cheerleader in high school for a reason....The reason being, I had a legitimate reason to have my back turned away from the football field for the entire 3+ hours!

I am glad the days of cramming into a packed student section, clad in my red and black sundress in the sweltering heat and stench of beer and whiskey is behind me, and now I can watch the Bulldogs from the comfort of an air conditioned NYC sports bar....A sports bar may not be my first choice for a refreshing glass of wine and catching up with old college friends, but I do appreciate that college football brings southerners together.

Last weekend I cheered on the Alabama Crimson Tide with some Alabama friends and caught up with old college friends at another bar as we cheered on the Georgia Bulldogs. In between plays my mind began to wander as I tried to make watching college football more enjoyable for myself....and I succeeded!

I give you....

Rooms inspired by SEC color schemes...

Starting with the best of course....

 THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA "BULLDOGS"

VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY "COMMODORES"

THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA "CRIMSON TIDE"

THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE "VOLUNTEERS"

MISSISSIPPI STATE "BULLDOGS"

OLE MISS "REBELS"
